Lots of rumors swirling around about the bike shop closing it's doors - another victim of the ailing economy.  Well, it's not true - not only are we not closing...we're expanding!  Let's explain...

First of all, the shop has been sold to a new owner and will change it's name to Irvine Bicycles.  The new ownership wants to see the completion of the vision we started three years ago.  The plans for the shop are big, but for now they are just plans, so we'll wait to announce what the future will bring in the, well...future!  In the meantime, the shop will soon be re-stocked with lots of new bikes and products, and will likely also be home to my latest venture: FinalFit.   Basically, the demand for my fitting services had become so popular, and time consuming (over 1500 fits in three years!), that it was taking too much of my attention away from the daily needs of the shop.  I decided to make it a business unto itself, and expand the fitting services we offer. 

Changes & Non-Changes

So, what's going to change?  A couple of things, and they're all good for you, our continuing and potential customers...

1. More Products - Simply put, the shop will be better stocked than ever before.
2. New Location???  No, the shop is staying in it's current location...for now.
3. Josh is Staying Put.  I like to joke that I sold Josh with the shop, but the truth is, the new ownership recognize how valuable he is to the shop as clearly the best mechanic in the area.  Beyond that, Josh will be free to bring in other mechanical talent to make us the best service center there is.
4. More Selection.  You'll see more products and more brands.  The shop will also be stocked like never before.

So, that's a quick look into what's happening.  It's been a fast and furious last few weeks with changes happening daily.  I will thank many of you in a furture article, but I wanted to assure all of you that the shop is stronger than ever, and is only going to grow in the very near future.  It's going to be fun, and the cyclists of Orange County are going to enjoy a shop with the atmosphere and selection they deserve.
